Tanya Baran was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan surrounded by Ukrainian culture, traditions and language. The Ukrainian culture has been deep rooted in Tanya’s life starting at a very young age when she attended the Ukrainian bilingual program in Saskatoon and at the age of three she began spending many hours in dance studios studying the beauty of Ukrainian dance. Tanya continued to share her passion of Ukrainian dance by instructing a recreational group in Saskatoon and traveled to Ukraine in 2018 to study with Virsky Ukrainian National Dance Folk Ensemble.
When she is not in the studio or spending time at the cottage, Tanya works as a Registered Nurse with the Saskatoon Health Region on the Oncology unit.
Tanya made her first of many journeys to Ukraine, since the full-scale invasion, in April 2022. She came with medical aid in hand and the strength of her Ukrainian roots to support Ukraine. Since this time, she has served in Kyiv, throughput the Kharkiv oblast, the hot spots of Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson. She is the proud medical lead for Ukrainian Patriot and when not at home in Saskatoon is working hard along the frontlines of Ukraine to ensure everyone’s utmost health and safety.
