When Churches Burn, the Faithful Rise

Ukrainian Patriot is calling on churches across North America to stand with Ukraine’s faithful.

Churches burned. Pastors executed. Parishioners re-educated or disappeared. This is not history—it’s what’s happening now in occupied Ukraine.

russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine isn’t just a war of weapons. It’s a war against freedom, identity, and faith. And across occupied territories, people of faith—especially Protestant and Evangelical communities—are paying the ultimate price for refusing to renounce their beliefs.

Ukrainian Patriot is calling on churches across North America to stand with Ukraine’s faithful. Together, we can send more than prayers—we can send food, aid, and hope.

The War on Worship

Since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022, more than 650 churches have been shelled, looted, or completely destroyed, according to the Institute for Religious Freedom. At least 47 priests, pastors, and other faith leaders have been murdered, reports Mission Eurasia. The project A Faith Under Siege is documenting these stories with clarity and conviction.

These aren’t random casualties. They are part of a broader, systematic campaign to erase religious communities that don’t align with Kremlin ideology.

And yet, the faithful remain—praying, serving, and refusing to be silenced.

A Model of Impact: Partnership in Action

In 2022, Ukrainian Patriot began working with a church community in Kyiv that chose to act. The Kyiv Ukraine Temple first supported us by filling our vehicles with whatever they had—food, supplies, warm clothing.

By 2023, that partnership had grown into a sustainable, scalable model:

Parishioners collected financial donations.

The funds were used to purchase goods directly from Ukrainian grocers.

The goods were then packaged into food bags and delivered to frontline communities by Ukrainian Patriot.

There is no waste. No middleman. Just a direct line of support from church to community.

This is a model that works—and one we want to replicate with churches across the United States and Canada.

Your Church Can Stand With Ukraine—Here’s How

We’re inviting churches to take part in a quarterly commitment that will have a lasting, tangible impact.

Here’s what it looks like:

  • Your church collects donations each quarter.
  • Those funds are either directed to a Ukrainian grocer by your team, or earmarked for a guaranteed use through Ukrainian Patriot.
  • We take care of the rest—sourcing, packing, and delivering the aid to those who need it most.

Each quarter, your church receives:

  • A detailed impact report showing how your funds were used
  • Photos and updates from the ground
  • Real stories of lives changed through your generosity

This is not a vague giving campaign. It’s precision aid with full transparency. You’ll know exactly where every dollar went—and whom it helped.

Why Now?

UNICEF reports that 16 children per week have been killed or injured in Ukraine since February 2022. Behind every statistic is a family, a story, a church congregation trying to hold itself together in the middle of war.

We know that for many in North America, religious freedom is taken for granted. In Ukraine, it’s being taken away.

We’re not asking churches to do everything. We’re asking them to do something—and to do it consistently, with purpose, and in partnership.

You can be part of a mission that protects the vulnerable, defends religious freedom, and delivers food and essentials to those who need it most.

This model—tested and proven with our partners in Kyiv—can work anywhere. With any church, any size, anywhere in the world.

All it takes is a willingness to act.

Let’s Build Something That Lasts

When russia invades, it tries to destroy more than buildings—it tries to destroy belief. But faith isn’t found in walls. It’s found in action.

This is your church’s chance to be part of something bigger. Not just a moment, but a movement—a network of believers around the world standing up for the ones who are being persecuted, forgotten, and silenced.

Every UP delivery includes a spiritual and emotional component. We sit, pray, and listen. We hug. We remind each person they are not forgotten. No one leaves empty-handed, and no one leaves untouched—we aim to leave every soul with a feeling of light, love, hope, and connection. In a time of darkness, this is just as important as the food we carry.

Help us deliver hope. Help us defend faith. Help us remind the people of Ukraine that they are never alone.

Together, we can show Ukraine’s faithful that they are not forgotten. Every act of solidarity makes a difference.
